As a charity, we depend on donations to keep our service free.
Please consider taking out a regular donation — or donating whenever you download a talk. We will appreciate whatever you can give!
The Archive
Dharmachakra Archive is the sound and text archive of the Western Buddhist Order.
Free Buddhist Audio is the name we’ve chosen to distribute our collections online as we digitize them. We hope, in time, to add material by speakers from other Buddhist traditions too.
This site offers a selection of talks, interviews, seminars, and question-and-answer sessions from the early 1960s to the present day, including an increasing number in languages other than English.
The FWBO
The FWBO (The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) is an international network dedicated to communicating Buddhist truths in ways appropriate to the modern world.
The essence of Buddhism is timeless and universal. But the forms it takes always adapt according to context. Now that Buddhism is spreading around the globe, the task is to create new traditions relevant to the 21st century. The FWBO was started in response to these issues by Urgyen Sangharakshita, and during the past 40 years or so has become one of the largest Buddhist movements, with activities in many cities and rural retreat centres around the world.
Reports of current activities and events in both the FWBO and our counterpart in India, the TBMSG, can be found on the FWBO and TBMSG News website. Many of our friends world wide also maintain websites in their native languages. See our links page for more details.
You can also find broad outlines of the FWBO approach to Buddhist practice in the following languages:
